Student Assignment
Volunteer to mentor high school students in your community.
How am I matched with students?
Your site supervisor has determined how ASPIRE advisors will be matched with students.
Generally, volunteers are not matched with family members. Methods for
matching include:
- compatible schedules
- specific career or college program interests
- common backgrounds
- students choose
- volunteers choose
- random assignment
Whatever matching method is used, students are assigned only one Advisor. You may
meet with your assigned students one-on-one or in small groups, depending on the
students' needs.
How many students should I advise?
You should determine the initial number of students you can advise by considering
the time you have available and the grade levels of the students your site is serving.
You may add more students after determining the individual needs of your initial
students.
What if the match is not working out?
Talk with your Site Supervisor if you have any problems or concerns with your student
assignments. It is best to address issues as soon as possible.
